ABOUT

Pastor Devon Bailey was born in St. Mary, Jamaica and migrated to the United States at the age of 19. During the first several years of his new life in New York, Pastor Devon attempted to start a musical career and frequently performed at night clubs and street carnivals throughout the city. Although he gained some recognition for his musical talent, he still fell short of reaching his aspirations and experienced numerous closed doors and disappointments along the way. In 1997, it became quite evident that God had other plans for Pastor Devon’s life, and he began visiting a church in Brooklyn where he subsequently surrendered his life to the Lord.

Shortly after becoming born again, Pastor Devon felt a strong call of God on his life to attend a Bible School and devote his life to the ministry. In June 2001, Pastor Devon graduated from RHEMA Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he received a directive from the Lord to return to New York City, plant a church, and win all of New York City for Jesus Christ. Three months after graduating from RHEMA, Pastor Devon founded the Great Commission Church (“GCC”) in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn with a biblical mandate to go into all the world and make disciples of all men (Matt. 28:19). Although at its founding, the church membership comprised of just a
handful of children, the Lord has since
blessed the church tremendously and it is
growing each day.
